Lindsay Ross, Hutchison Technologies Marketing Manager

Our people make Hutchison Technologies a great place to work and we’re pleased to shine the spotlight on another member of our talented team.

In our latest Meet the Team feature, we meet Lindsay Ross, Marketing Manager. We asked Lindsay to tell us a little more about her role and what she enjoys most about working at Hutchison Technologies.

Tell us a little about yourself

I was born in Glasgow and have lived locally most of my life. I went to Stonelaw High School then graduated from University of the West of Scotland with a degree in economics.

My career sort of shaped itself. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after university, but my degree gave me considerable flexibility. I ended up in marketing after being accepted onto a graduate business program with a manufacturer in Glasgow.

Since then, my career has evolved into technology marketing, working with different types of technologies and businesses from master data management and audit technology to Microsoft inner circle partners.

In my spare time I love kayaking on Loch Lomond and around Aberfoyle and Callander. I also love baking, the only downside is that I tend to eat a lot of my own cakes! Gardening is another passion, I love planting flowers in spring and watching them grow; nature never ceases to amaze me.

Tell us about the main aspects of your role

I started in September as Marketing Manager for Hutchison International and In Home Displays Ltd.

For International, I’ve been brought in to develop the strategy, positioning, and go-to-market plan for medical device manufacturing. It’s an exciting time, with the rebrand in full swing. The main rebrand objectives are to effectively position the brand in a complex and crowded market, increase awareness, and generate new business. The potential is endless and I’m really looking forward to it.

For In Home Displays Ltd, I’m developing a go-to-market plan and looking at tactical marketing. The main objectives are to increase brand awareness and generate leads. The smart meter roll-out ends in 2025, so we have around 18 months to make a real impact.

What’s the best thing about your job?

I’m enjoying getting stuck into learning about new markets and doing lots of competitor research; but the best thing has to be my team. Even before I started, they congratulated me and welcomed me into the fold. It was really thoughtful and meant I wasn’t as nervous starting a new job. The team interact a lot and continue to make each day fun. I feel really supported and lucky to have found them.

What makes you stay at Hutchison Technologies?

I’m enjoying learning about the new markets I’m supporting. Again, the Marketing team and colleagues across the wider business are all lovely to work with.

If coronavirus is a teacher, what has it taught you?

Great question! For me, it’s been two things.

  1. To appreciate the little things that I previously took for granted. Being in lockdown over a bleak winter gives you plenty of time to miss things you hadn’t really noticed before. It made me sit up and take stock of life’s subtleties.
  2. It was another reminder of how fragile we all are. Waking up each day is not a given, so make each day count with family and friends.
