Meet the Team - Field Engineer, Andy Rustman

In our latest Meet the Team feature, we meet Field Engineer Andy Rustman. We asked Andy to tell us a little more about his role and what he enjoys most about working at Hutchison Technologies.
Andy, tell us a little about yourself?
I’m from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. From a young age, I had two keen interests – creating music and taking broken things apart to see if I could make them work again. I studied music and spent more than 18 years working as a DJ. Recently, my passion for creating music has been reignited and I’ve started writing music for others. People send vocals to me and I create the music to accompany them. Elsewhere, I’ve repaired arcade machines and juke boxes for a living.
Tell us about the main aspects of your role.
I’m a Service Engineer and I’m responsible for commissioning and repairing a broad range of on-site equipment from studios to access control systems. I also survey new sites, work out solutions and identify technical faults.
What’s the best thing about your job?
I love working with customers. I also enjoying identifying technical faults and repairing them. Being able to combine these two things gives me a great sense of enjoyment and achievement.
What makes you stay at Hutchison Technologies?
Since joining the team in 2013, I’ve developed great relationships with colleagues and learned many new skills. I have regular access to new technologies and the opportunity to be involved in really diverse projects, that keeps things interesting and exciting.
If coronavirus is a teacher, what has it taught you?
Coronavirus has taught me to value what’s important in life... my family and friends, and ensuring we all look after each other. Coronavirus has disrupted so many things we take for granted, and it’s important we use this time to look after each other, so that soon, we can all move forward and get back on track.
