Meet the Team - Marketing Executive, Scott Webster

Hutchison Technologies is a diverse technology business with operations in datacoms, telecoms, audio visual, access control, smart energy and medical sectors. Founded in Dundee in 1991 with the purpose of making life simpler through access to better technology, the company works with leading brands in the health and fitness, retail, hospitality and leisure sectors in the UK and overseas.

In our latest Meet the Team feature, we meet Marketing Executive Scott Webster. We asked Scott to tell us a little more about his role and what he enjoys most about working at Hutchison’s.

Scott, tell us a little bit about yourself…
I was born in Dundee and grew up in Gowrie Park – a stone’s throw from our new global HQ. Initially, I studied Sociology before working as an English language instructor in Tokyo. I had always been interested in Marketing and Branding so, on my return to Scotland, I studied Marketing at university. I joined Hutchison Technologies as a Marketing Executive in 2018.

In my free time, I enjoy listening to electronic music, reading, watching football and going out for brunch at the weekends.

Tell us about your role at Hutchison Technologies…
As a Marketing Executive, I am responsible for managing the company’s social media channels, email marketing and website CMS. I work closely with the wider Marketing Team to develop and deliver sales collateral and strategies to positively support and promote the Hutchison Technologies brand.

What do you like best about your job?
I enjoy working with the talented team of people across the business who all share a common goal of helping people enjoy a simpler life through access to better technology. It’s really rewarding creating new solutions, or improving existing solutions, and working together to take them to our customers.

I also enjoy that Hutchison’s is a fast-paced environment with lots of creativity and autonomy. We offer such an array of products and services, that it makes every day different and exciting.

What makes you stay at Hutchison Technologies?
Over the past three years, I’ve developed good relationships with colleagues across the business and continue to learn and grow in a professional capacity. The variety of projects and new challenges keep things fresh and exciting also. I am really looking forward to developing and advancing the Hutchison Technologies brand in 2021.

If coronavirus is a teacher, what has it taught you?
To be patient and enjoy the little things. With our lives suddenly put ‘on hold’, it has forced me to step back and appreciate what it means to live and not just survive.
