In our latest Meet the Team feature, we meet Field Engineer Ambroise Somian. We asked Ambroise to tell us a little more about his role and what he enjoys most about working at Hutchison Technologies

Ambroise, tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a lively and positive person who likes to interact with friends and colleagues. Life is about being sociable and I enjoy telling jokes and making people feel at ease around me. I’m also very serious and focused and my mantra is, “There’s no room for mediocrity.” As such, I work hard to ensure that people can count on me.

Tell us about the main aspects of your role.
I am an ambassador for the Hutchison Technologies brand, and I believe it is important to be professional, truthful and expert at what I do. I pride myself on my technical knowledge and take pleasure in delighting our customers. As a Remote Field Engineer, I am called into many different environments and situations and it is essential that I can overcome whatever challenges I encounter. There are times when things haven’t gone as expected but I enjoy reassuring clients and providing creative solutions. I’m also responsible for managing company assets and this is always in the back of my mind.  

What’s the best thing about your job?
Hutchison Technologies has a reputation as a progressive AV company and I adore the ever-changing technology we get to work with. I also enjoy it when I’m called out to fix a problem on-site and I can walk into cheers and walk out as a hero, holding a celebratory cappuccino!

What makes you stay at Hutchison Technologies?
I have worked for Hutchison’s for six years now. I love interacting with technology. I also enjoy the sense of being part of a family and my manager, Ross, plays a key role in that.

If coronavirus is a teacher, what has it taught you?
Coronavirus has taught me that when a door closes, a window opens. I have trained myself on new technologies and can now design websites. I’ve also spent more time with my family, which has been a real luxury.
