Step inside any of the MacDonald Hotels, and you’re greeted by friendly staff, luxurious rooms, welcoming hospitality, and plentiful amenities. We were fortunate to work with this luxury hotel brand at a few of their locations, including their Falkirk and Windsor sites, to help craft their existing group fitness studio into a modern connected space that offers both live classes and on-demand virtual group workouts.

To create an immersive fitness class, we painted the back wall with reflective projection paint, to ensure the projections would show up crisp and bright. This is a great solution for those who want to have large scale visuals but don’t want to bulk up the room with roll-down projection screens. The resulting display covers most of the back wall, roughly a 4m wide area, and is framed by impactful raised LED RGBW strip lights on either side.

All along the ceiling, we supplied RGBW downlighters that cast colourful spots on participants and the instructor, but never wash out the screen itself. All the lighting is controlled from an intuitive side panel with physical buttons, which we preprogrammed to suit a variety of class styles this studio would be hosting. Now, no matter whether there is a live instructor booked to take a class, or members and guests tune in for a virtual fitness class, the lighting can be set to suit the workout perfectly.

No fitness studio is complete without impactful sound, so we also supplied a commercial sound system by Audac. We acoustically mapped the space and provided 2 8” cabinet speakers at the front of the room, linked through to a bespoke built rack and control system, complete with bluetooth and aux music inputs to deliver ful flexibility of use.

”Our staff have found it easy to get to grips with the system and are able to quickly finetune the studios atmosphere, controlling lighting, sound levels, music input, and visual output from a central tablet console.
